If your dog loves treats as much as my three, then the name Simon and Huey is in their vocabulary. When I entered the 3600 square foot facility in Mountlake Terrace, I instantly smelled liver treats baking.

I was greeted by owner Jessamy Whitsitt with a big smile. I was given a full tour of the facility watching the production line of her cookies. The three full time employees: Caitlin, April, Whitney were hard at work. They made treats of all shapes, flavor, and sizes.

Simon and Huey started 6 years ago. A labor of love for owners Jessamy and Joni. They began right after 911, but instead of sales dropping, they increased. "People depended on their pets so much during that time" said Jessamy. They moved from her condo, to a community kitchen, to their big facility. Simon and Huey makes over thirty types of treats, and carried in over 300 stores nationwide

Simon and Huey cookies were started because Simon, a 10 year old Beagle had problems digesting hard cookies. The batches made were sometimes large so partner Joni took the baking overflow to work with her. Soon Joni had requests from her co-workers for more cookies!

The cookies became popular so fast they literally had to run out one day and obtain a business license. It wasn't difficult to find shops to carry the cookies. The first store to carry them was Bark in Ballard. After dropping off samples, Karen at Bark called within a week for 5 lbs of every flavor. The products were popular because all the biscuits were formulated from scratch. The ingredients are easy for dogs to digest. The Simon and Huey crew takes pride in the quality, and wholesome ingredients.

They have a bulletin board in the facility that has thank you cards, and photos of clients. I was touched with the stories, including one where about giving dogs their last meal, or an 18 year old dog that ate nothing but Simon and Huey cookies in his last month of life. "There have been dogs that were cremated with Simon and Huey Treats, because they loved them so much."

Simon and Huey is who? Oh yes, their dogs of course. Simon is a 10 year old beagle, and Howling Huey is 8. They also have a 1 year old Golden Retriever/Poodle Mix named Cowboy, and two cats Stella and Luna. What is most important to Simon and Huey? The integrity of their cookies, and being a good employer. There is no doubt they have surpassed both goals. This season their special products include Giant Gingerbread Men, and 2 and 5 oz. tub containers in cute holiday containers!.
